Supporting Research and education
in the specialty

Research and education are critical to making advances in the specialty. The Foundation’s yearly funding of research awards, fellowships and other projects allow the specialty to develop new areas of scientific study which will affect the care of patients now and for years into the future.

The OMS Foundation has supported the specialty with more than $12 million for Research Awards, Fellowships, scholarships and sponsorships of specialty-focused programs.

The Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Foundation (OMSF) will provide $617,500 to fund research and education in the OMS specialty in 2015. This total includes:

  • Six Research Support Grants ($450,000)
  • Three Student Research Training Awards ($37,500)
  • Support of Faculty Educator Development Awards (FEDAs) ($100,000)
  • Support of AAOMS Research and Education Conference ($20,000)
  • Scholarships for residents to attend the Research and Education Conference ($10,000)
