Giving Opportunities
The OMSF welcomes the support of donors who share our mission to improve patient care in oral and maxillofacial surgery. As a donor, you can get involved in the Foundation through the REAP annual campaign, OMSF membership, tribute gifts, planned gifts, or an outright donation. As the Foundation is a §501(c)(3) non-profit organization, gifts are tax deductible. Click on the titles below for more information.

- To feel free to ask questions when making a donation and to receive prompt, truthful, and forthright answers.
- Administrative disbursements of up to, but not exceeding, three percent of a three-year rolling average of fund balances may be made annually.
REAP
To be able to continue current levels of support for research and education, the Foundation launched a new annual campaign in 2005 called REAP. REAP, which stands for Research and Education Advance Patient care, was established to invlove every surgeon in the annual support of research and education, the cornerstones of the future of the specialty.
The possibilities for REAP are enormous: if each oral and maxillofacial surgeon invested just $1,000 to $2,000 a year, this would provide $6 to $12 million for OMSF's research fund on an annual basis. In less than 10 years, the Foundation could build a corpus of $100 million, the proceeds from which would be a powerful source of funding in support of the future of the specialty.
For making a gift, you will receive a beautiful, personalized plaque to display in your office. The plaque is a noticeable and dignified way to show your patients that you are engaged in the support of research and education because it improves their care. The plaque has an add-on bar for every year you participate in REAP.
Membership
Foundation memberships contribute to the core support of OMSF. Core support goes for the delivery of programs, administrative and fund-raising expenses. Administrative expenses are costs associated with sustaining operations. Fund-raising expenses are the costs of raising contributions. Membership gifts are the working capital that OMSF needs to carry out its strategic mission and respond to new challenges and opportunities.

Tribute Gifts
A unique and valuable way to remember a loved one or friend who has passed away or to celebrate a special occasion is to make a Tribute gift to the Foundation. Tribute gifts serve as a visible sign of your commitment and dedication to others and have special meaning to the individual and the family. When you make a Tribute gift, an acknowledgement of the gift will be sent to the family or the honoree, regardless of the amount of your gift.
Grateful Patients
Would you like to honor a surgeon for his/her care? You can make a gift in his or her name to the OMSF. Your gift will support valuable projects to improve patient care.
Planned Giving
Planned Giving is the integration of personal, financial, and estate planning goals with your goals for lifetime or testamentary charitable giving. Planned gifts may provide an opportunity for charitable giving in circumstances that may not otherwise allow a you to make a gift to OMSF.
Planned, charitable gifts not only enable you to contribute significantly to the future of the specialty; they also may allow you to increase or stabilize income and moderate capital gains, income and estate tax obligations. Charitable estate gift planning can be counterintuitive because, by making a gift to a charity, you may actually retain more resources for your family and other purposes. There are many vehicles through which to make an estate gift.
Those who make an estate gift of $10,000 or more become members of the Robert V. Walker Society. Members are honored each year at an elegant reception at the AAOMS Annual Meeting. > Members of the Robert V. Walker Society
To provide help in the decision-making process for making a planned gift, the Foundation offers two Estate Planning Seminars at the AAOMS Annual Meeting. These informative, yet informal, seminars will cover basic and more advanced planned giving options. > Dates and times of the Estate Planning Seminars
The Foundation also has available the "Family Questionnaire: Developing Your Personal Family Financial Philosophy." This questionnaire is intended for private, family use and may help you further clarify your motivation for a gift, and your giving philosophy.
