Mission Statement & General Information

What is the OMSF?

The Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Foundation (OMSF) was originally incorporated in 1959 as a not for profit corporation in the State of Illinois and is exempt from the payment of federal income tax pursuant to §501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. As such, it is characterized as a charitable organization with an obligation to serve the public good.

Today, as the only national foundation which supports the oral and maxillofacial surgery specialty, the Foundation continues to prosper because of the support from members of AAOMS, corporations and friends of the specialty. The focus of the OMSF is supporting research and education to advance the specialty.

To request the Foundation's audit and/or Form 990, please contact the OMSF office via e-mail at omsf@aaoms.org. To view the Form 990 online, please visit www.guidestar.com.

Mission

The OMSF is dedicated to advancing the long term development, health and well-being of the specialty and the public it serves through financial support of research and education consistent with the goals of the AAOMS.

Research and Education

Research and education are critical to making advances in the specialty. The Foundation’s yearly funding of research awards and fellowships allow the specialty to develop new areas of scientific study which will affect the treatment of patients now and for years into the future.

Since 1985, the Foundation has supported more than 200 awards and projects, for more than $8 million in support for the specialty, including:

  • Third Molar Study
  • Outcomes Assessment Project
  • Research Grants & Fellowships

Donors may make an investment in the future of the specialty with support to the Foundation through membership, outright cash gifts and planned gifts.

Opportunities to support the Foundation include membership, pledges and direct contributions, planned giving arrangements, special events, and memorials.
